DIY Silly Putty Using Yogurt, Cooking Oil, & Corn Starch

For the last couple weeks my oldest has been obsessed with Silly Putty.

Like O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D.

The latest craze involves making it yourself. We looked up some recipes online, but I wasn’t to keen on her using a lot of school glue or laundry chemicals.

I knew there had to be a safer way. So I went off my DIY Marshmallow Play-Dough and came up with my own.

It’s gooey, slimy, and 100% safe.  It’s made from just yogurt, cooking oil, and corn starch. Even if she left it out (not that far fetched) and my toddler ate it, I wouldn’t worry. It would taste horrible, but I wouldn’t be hauling her off to the ER.

So here’s how to make it:

  1. Mix equal parts plan stirred yogurt and corn starch in a large.
  2. Add in 2Tbsp of cooking oil
  3. Take it out of the bowl and need it with your hands until you get a good consistency.

That’s it. You can add in glitter and food colouring to personalize it. You keep this in your fridge in and air tight container for storage. But let it get to room temperature before playing with it again to get it back to the right consistency. It cleans up easy with just warm water.
