It’s that time of year again when all the isles of your local store fill up with colourful back to school displays. There is so much planning, organizing and shopping to do. It’s enough to make even the most organized parent stress out. But there are some great back to school hacks that are real sanity savers for parents, and they allow the kids to have fun planning with you.
Become A Savvy Back to School Shopper: There are so many great deals this time of year, you don’t have to pay full price for that long school supplies list. Back to school shopping can also help your little one really get excited for the start up of school again. Looking to conquer the busy stores by yourself or not at all? You still get great deals shopping online or let your kids circle their favourite products in the flyers before you head out to the store.
Establish And Start Routines Early: Busy back to school schedules can be tricky to create and follow. Have a sit down with your kids to help you make before and after school schedules. This is also a great way to open communication about what school teams and clubs they want to get involved in during the year. Sitting down and getting your kids involved in schedules not only keeps everyone on the same page, but it also encourages kids to actually want to follow the schedules. After you have an established schedule, start to follow it where you can – wake up times, meal times, and bedtimes are a great place to start.
Have Healthy Snacks Ready To Go: The first few weeks of school can get crazy, and they require a lot more fuel. Have healthy lunch and after school snacks on hand and ready to grab to supply your kids with the fuel they need in those first few weeks. Baggies of your little one’s favourite veggies and yogurt pouches stored in a clear container at your kids eye level are a great way to make healthy options available – even for the busiest schedule.
One of my favourite products to keep in the fridge for my girls are the iÖGO nanö pouches. They feature fun designs in an ultra convenient pouch (They also have tubes, cups and spill-proof drinks). They are a great grab and go snack for busy after school nights and a quick snack for their lunch pails. My girls love their Apple-Strawberry flavour, and I love that they are made with natural ingredients and wholesome goodness. They are great for small hands to grasp, and even have a resealable twist cap! I also love to freeze these pouches and add them to the girls’ lunch pails in the morning. By the time their first lunch break rolls around, they can have a delicious and nutritious snack and I can skip the ice pack in their lunch. Pick them up at your local grocery store and try them for yourself. You can also try their NEW line of veggie flavours with nutritious combinations like banana & squash and peach & carrot.
