Pets are not just pets in our home. They are family. I couldn’t imagine our family without our fur babies.

Both of our fur babies are actually rescued. We got Prince Charming (my daughter’s cat) from family friends who fostered some kittens after they were dumped in front of their house. And then we adopted our pup, Sandy, at from our local shelter about 7 years ago.

It was an interesting transition with Sandy. She was older when we adopted and clearly not trained.

There were definitely times at the beginning that I really wasn’t sure if our family was a good fit for Sandy. But things settled down, and I’m so grateful that she’s in our family.

As Sandy starts to show her age, we have been trying to be careful about what she eats. Simple ingredients that we understand is our aim for her diet.

The first thing we are changing up are her dog treats. So this week, I’ve been busy in the kitchen trying out and tweaking different homemade dog treats. I went with peanut butter dog treas because it’s one of Sandy’s favourite flavours. I choose a natural organic peanut butter for these homemade dog treats to keep them healthy and as natural as possible.

The other 2 ingredients are eggs and flour. Simple and full of flavour was my goal with these homemade dog treats.

Unlike the no-bake pet treats, these won’t melt. It’s no problem just storing these in the pantry, or taking them with you for walks with your pup.

Cooked homemade dog treats on pan

Bake at 350 C for 25 minutes. Cool completely on pan before giving them to your pup.

I store these in an airtight container in my pantry. I wouldn’t leave them in there for more than a couple months. But I dought they would last the long anyways.
