Homemade Toaster Strudels

There’s something about homemade that just makes special treats taste better. Am I right?

But, as a mom of 4, I don’t always have the time or energy to make homemade treats.

Thankfully, these homemade toaster strudels are just 2 simple ingredients, and only take minutes to put together.

Which means I can make these delicious treats often. Which is good, because they don’t tend to last long in my house.

For This Recipe You Will Need:

  • Refrigerated pie crust brought to room temperature
  • Your favourite jam

How To Make Them:

First, you’re going to roll out your pie dough so it’s about 1/2cm thick. You will want to lightly flour your counter and rolling pin as this dough tends to be sticky.

Next cut the dough into little rectangles. I use a pizza cutter and cut mine into 4X3 inch rectangles. You will have extra dough. Just roll it back out and cut it into rectangles until there is no more dough left. You will need an even number of rectangles.

Add jam to half the rectangle pieces. The other rectangles will be used for the tops. I use about 2TBS of jam per strudel.

Take one of the rectangle pieces of dough you haven’t put jam on, and place it on top of one with jam. Continue until all the rectangles are used.

Using a fork, press the edges closed and poke holes in the top.

Place on a light coloured baking sheet and bake at 400°F  for 20 minutes – or until golden brown. Cool on the pan before serving.

Optional:

  • Decorate with homemade icing and sprinkles.
  • I like to eat mine hot. So I take one that hasn’t been iced, pop it into the toaster oven for a couple minutes, then decorate.
